    3. Hello Jeanne, Hello Jeanne, A search for "Genealogy + Canada" brought up many interesting sites. The Quebec Family History Society (www.qfhs@cam.org) might be helpful. 3. Jeanne, There are several good sites for research in Canada. Which ones would be most useful depends on if he has an idea which province in Canada and whether is ancestors are French or not. http://www.rootsweb.com/~canwgw/html/e-index.html Canada GenWeb is a good place to start http://www.genealogie.org/ (French) http://www.ingeneas.com/ Canadian Genealogy Those may be useful to your friend. Then there is always the FamilySearch site (LDS library catalog online) http://www.familysearch.org/ where you can see all the parish records and other records that have been microfilmed and can be ordered into your nearest family history center. If you ever need lookups of things that don't circulate (books, etc), just email be privately. http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp ?display=localitysearch&columns=*,0,0 here is the "place search" where you can just enter the province (if known)or country. Records are kept at different levels of jurisdiction, just like in our country. So be sure to check the country, the province, the county and the town or parish. And here http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/RG/frameset_rhelps.asp?Page=./res earch/Placec/Placec.asp&ActiveTab=Place are research helps for Canada (scroll down to Canada) that may be useful. Some are PDF documents and some haven't yet been loaded online and are available for purchase (like the Canada Research Outline). If it's of any interest, you can purchase a cd which has all of their research outlines, word lists, letter writing guides, etc- it's called the Family History Source Guide and you can find it here ($6)and you don't have to be LDS to order it. http://www.ldscatalog.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?cata logId=10001&storeId=10001&categoryId=100107&langId=-1&parent_category_rn =100102&bcname=Miscellaneous%20Databases&top=&resetCat=N&initBC=Y&level= 2&replBC=subcatlist100102 Hope you find that information helpful. Best wishes helping your friend.
