Do you know anything about Nelson's daughter Nellie? I have her birth year at about 1866 from the 1870 and 1880 census. And somewhere in my house I have a photo of Nellie and Roxy. (I just moved!) On the photo it says Nellie's name is Nellie Bickerman? or Dickerson? Its hard to make out. Also do you have the death date of George Avery? I know he lived in Michigan In 1920's census Roxy's daughter Lulu Christine Brass was visiting George and his wife Annabelle. But that's the last time I see George. Dear Linda Just today I worked on solving the Nellie Dickerman question. And preparatory to this bout with the net I chose from my shoebox file the slips on George and Annabelle! George Arthur Avery m. Annabelle Brousseau on 26 Apr 1893. Geo b.21 Oct 1872- d.25 Feb 1926. Their issue George & Louise. (My Mom & Dad visited them in Detroit ca. 1919.) Robert Franklin Brass was Roxy's husband. He was born 1866 in Westfield, Mass Hampden county (1880 census) Robert was still alive in the 1930 census, and I haven't been able to find him in the Westfield area cemeteries. Robert's son, Howard had moved to Florida, in the Florida death index there is a Robert Franklin Brass who died in 1948 in Osceola county. Lulu Brass (my husband's grandmother) b 1/31/1894, d 3/11/1963 m Llewellyn Lewis 9/24/1920 in Albany, New York I've always wondered how she met him. Llewellyn was a resident of West Pawlett, Vermont. Lulu lived in Westfield, Mass. Lulu had just been visiting her uncle George Avery in Michigan a few months before they married in New York. Howard Brass never married. He was b 5/2/1889 Westfield, Mass, d 7/19/1963, Vero Beach, Indian River County, Fl I never found out much about Franklin Brass, he was b 1884 Westfield, don't know what else happened to him Gladys Mae Brass was b 10/5/1891 Westfield, Mass, d 11/1955, married to Robert Mercer abt 1914. They had three children - Donald J Mercer, Dorothy N Mercer and Roberta Y Mercer The Brass family goes way back, all the way to the Dutch settlers of New York. Only back they they called themselves Bros or Bras. The Lewis family were from Wales. Arriving in America sometime in the 1880's. They are absolutely my worst brick wall. I'm just as stumped on Annabelle as you, have only the info you do A note on Lucy Avery, Roxy's sister - she was called 'Lulu', she never married, she had a life long female companion, and oddly enough for that time frame, as far as I've heard her family doesn't seem to have had any negative reactions about her lifestyle choice.
