Greene County Historical Society Register 90 County Route 42 Coxsackie, N.Y 12051 Coxsackie, NY, December 16, 2008 The Historical Register Committee of the Greene County Historical Society announces publication of a hardcover book entitled, "Historic Places in Greene County" for the 2009 Quadricentennial Celebrations. Coxsackie, NY, December 16, 2008: The Historical Register Committee of The Greene County Historical Society is pleased to announce the publication of a new hardcover book entitled "Historic Places in Greene County." This 288-page, full color volume is a photographic and historical journey through selected sites in all fourteen towns of Greene County. "Historic Places in Greene County" will contain over 150 color photographs and illustrations, along with historical narratives, and a forward by the late Raymond Beecher, long-time Greene County historian. "Historic Places in Greene County" will document these historic sites, thus bringing to light a wealth of information not readily available elsewhere. It will serve both researchers and readers alike as a significant resource on the many architectural traditions that abound in the County. The book will be available in Summer 2009 to coincide with the Quadricentennial celebrations -- the 400th anniversary of the discovery of the Hudson River, which borders Greene County and which has played an important role in its growth and development over the centuries. The Greene County Historical Society established the Historical Register in May 1990 to document the County's structures and sites of historic and architectural significance, and to advance public awareness, appreciation, and preservation of the County's historic resources. Since that time, over 200 historic homes and sites have been listed on the Register. Further research on each site was conducted and compiled by the Historical Register Committee, in preparation for the forthcoming publication of "Historic Places in Greene County." Advance reservations for a limited edition, signed and numbered copy of "Historic Places in Greene County" are now being accepted upon request to the Greene County Historical Society. Only 200 of these special copies are available on a first-come, first-served basis. These limited editions are available for $53.95 ($49.95 + $4 NYS sales tax), by check payable to the Greene County Historical Society, 90 Route 42, Coxsackie, NY 12051. "Historic Places in Greene County" is published by Flint Mine Press, Coxsackie, NY, and is funded in part by Furthermore - a program of the J.M. Kaplan Fund.
