Happy to oblige: Daily Freeman, December 9, 2008, pg A2 Gertrude Muller PHOENICIA - Gertrude Muller, 82, of Ava Maria Drive, died at her home on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008. A lifelong resident of the area, Mrs. Muller was talented in handicrafts, such as crocheting and knitting. She was born in Arena on Feb. 14, 1926, the daughter of the late Victor and Frieda Irwin Cross. Survivors include a son, Robert of Olivebridge; three daughters, Susan Wayman of New Kingston, Debra Muller of Phoenicia and Linda Petersson of Shandaken; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her husband, Robert Muller, died in 1979. A grandson, Ian Lee Wayman; and three siblings, Valmer Cross, Dorothy Van Valkenberg and W. Robert Cross, also died previously. The funeral will take place at 1 p. m. Thursday at E. B. Gormley Funeral Home, 87 Main St., Phoenicia. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Rural Cemetery, state Route 28, Mount Tremper.
