    3. Thanks Mark- ever since I have switched to Microsoft Office I keep losing things! Sue -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of R. Mark Brown Sent: Tuesday, December 09, 2008 11:09 PM To: NY Greene Subject: [NYGREENE] Lucy A. Craig Hi Sue - don't remember too much about it but here is what I have in my archives mail boxes --- hope this helps ---- I can dig deeper in my mail box if you need. Mark 1880 Lucy A. Craig Ae 51 NY Katie Reynolds ae25 Joshua Reynolds ae 26 LIzzie Reynolds ae 6 Message I send on Oct 24 1870 David Craig ae 56 Iceland Ellen Craig ae 45 Iceland James Craig ae 15 NY James Craig ae 78 Iceland County Home Albany Margaret 1844 Iceland Alexander 1846 John 1851 Robert 1854 Elizabeth 1858 Jameel 1805 Albany 1860 Lucia Craig - ae 31 - Hunter/Greene Message I sent on Oct 24 Hi Sue - have you seen this before? It's on the Greene Co. II webpage -- Shubael led a full life, filled with many interesting experiences and friends. Tragedy struck in June of 1882, when on the 5th, after surgery for cancer of the tongue, he died of an infection related to the surgery, leaving his estate to his wife, and leaving his lawyer son Edgar, as inheritor of the property. . The present caretaker of the property, Lucy A. Craig, was allowed, by his will, to live there until her death. Her name can be found on old maps. The houses had two different names: Maple Cottage in 1867, and Elm Cottage in 1879. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nygreen2/swain_family_gallery.htm I was looking at the other Lucy and the Craigs in the census - do you know any of Lucy's brother's or sisters? In the 1880 Census - 1880 Hunter/Greene Lucy A. Craig Ae 51 NY Katie Reynolds ae25 (neice) Joshua Reynolds ae 26 LIzzie Reynolds ae 6 and it states that Katie is a neice of Lucy - I'm guessing that Joshua and Katie are married - I suspect that a record of the marriage of the two might give you some interesting info - I happen to have Reynolds relatives but I don't know that I have Joshua - but I'll look closer. I wonder if the James James who is ae 78 Ireland in the Greene County Home - could be the father of Lucy..... it would be good to see if you can find him as the father of a family in the 1850 Census - showing he had a daughter Lucy - and perhaps some other who could be traced to "Neice" Katie. Also - you've probably seen 1860 Lucia Craig - ae 31 - Hunter/Greene - this would appear to be the same Lucy. I'll keep looking - Mark HI my apologies - I feel a little foolish - seeing that the Swain article was contributed by you. You have done quite a bit - I also saw Shubael in the NJ census - with your note. It's wasn't clear in the post that you knew about the Swain connection. Looking at it again - you write that the daughter of one of these families married a Craig - could the answer be with the 1880 Census Results - 1880 Hunter/Greene Lucy A. Craig Ae 51 NY Katie Reynolds ae25 (neice) Joshua Reynolds ae 26 LIzzie Reynolds ae 6 As Joshua Reynolds appears to be the husband of Katie Reynolds - a niece of Lucy - that means that Katie's mom was probably a Craig ? Maybe or is there another way for her to be a niece ? Just a thought - Mark My gr gr grandfather, willed his summer farm in Tannersville, to a Lucy A. Craig, to be then passed on to her son at her death. I have never been able to find out who she was. She is on an old map of Tannersville, and she appears to be a Miss. If anyone with books on the area finds anything about her, would they please let me know- the only possibility I know of so far, is that his daughter married into a family who were neighbors of another family- they had duplicate mansions. The daughter of one of these families married a Craig, so Lucy may be connected with her somehow. There are many Lucy A. Craigs around.
