    2. Martha compliation doesn't have an Abraham listed as a child of William and Annatje/Hannah France Short. There is an unusually long time span between their first two children??? 1) Henry Snyder Short: bp. March 25, 1819 d. Jan. 28, 1902 (NOTE: . . . . 12 year time span . . . . ) 2) Jeremiah Short: bp. Mar. 6, 1831 3) Maria Catherine Short: bp July 20, 1833 4) Margaret Elizabeth Short: bp. Nov. 18, 1835 5) Hugh Short: b July 13, 1839 6) Peter Short, b. Aug. 9, 1842 Also, Martha's records shows that Abraham and Sarah France Short's children are: George Wilson Short (1863 - 1938) and Amanda Short (1865-1925) In a message dated 11/13/2008 5:46:51 A.M. I have a tombstone in the Mt. Marion Cemetery showing this Abraham was born 1829 and died 1898. I also have a borth of a Abraham wot John Short and Anna France of Nov 4, 1828 in the Woodstock RDC records. 3. Hi Audrey - need your expertise regarding the ME Church. A Melvin H. Merchant in Cornwallville, whom I am researching, was called a Rev. in the 1902 Catskill paper when he stepped in to preach for a Rev. who was on vacation. I see from the Cornwallville ME records that Merchant was actively involved in the church. Would he have to be ordained to preach or to bear the title Rev.? I have never seen him referred to as a Rev. other than in this one newspaper article. He actually was a farmer and then a merchant in his later years. Sylvia
