Someone posted some 'lost Shorts" in Shandaken and mentioned Christian Waggoner and his 'son' Edward. Here's a little bit more on the subject, although it does not answer the question of who the Short parents were. On Monday last, Angeline Short, a girl between 9 and 10 living with her mother and her step-father, Mr. Christian Waggoner, in this village, was burned by her clothes catching on fire. She died on Wednesday. (Saugerties Telegraph, May 12, 1849) This village being Saugerties. The family does not appear in the 1850 census of Saugerties, and are in Shandaken in 1855 having lived there for 1 year. Where were they in 1850??
