The 1855 Ashland, NY census (as transcribed by Fred Q. Bowman) lists Lambert Brandow (42), wife Love (40), and children: Nathaniel (21), David (17), Zepheniah (15) and Hellen (12). The Windham Journal, weekly newspaper published at Windham, Greene County, New York, issue of Thursday, April 9, 1896, Died: BRANDOW - At his residence on North Settlement, April 2, 1886, Zephaniah Brandow, aged about 57 years. Interment in the North Settlement cemetery. Obviously the wrong year of death was published in this notice. Also note that the day on his gravestone (d. 7 Apr 1896) does not agree with this newspaper account. His obituary says that he was born in Hunter on 25 Dec 1839; died in North Settlement, town of Ashland on 2 Apr 1896; married in 1865 to Miss Mary Hartwell who died 16 months later; married again in 1867 to Miss Sabrina E. Blinn who survives along with two daughters and one son.
