I have in my file Cornelius Schermerhorn b. 27 Jan 1776 in Kinderhook. He died 7 Dec 1864 in Cairo, NY. I only have 2 children for him and Catherine Brandow, namely John William b. 26 Jan 1812 and Henry Ostrander b. 10 Jul 1815. I have no dates for Catherine so if anyone has found a stone reading for her, much appreciated. ([email protected])

Does anyone out there know where John Decker and mary Brandow moved to? I see them in the 1820 census and then they are gone. I am also assuming that Charity may be a sister to John Decker. Thoughts? Sylvia

Could Saartjen be the same as Charity? I believe there were several children baptized at the Gilboa DRC for Cornelius D. and Katy Brandow. I am unable to provide more details right now - I just remember seeing several names there ... -- in my research I found that the one of the transcribers assumed that my Cornelius (E.) and Catalina were the same couple but another transcriber (copy in NYS library) listed my couple with his correct middle initial "E" and her name "Catiline" instead of "Katy". The two couples MUST have known each other but I don't know the familial connection - they had essentially the same names and lived in Lexington at the same time. My Tiney/Catilina Goes (along with Cornelius E.) were married in 1811 and were buried in the Parker Cemetery where Peter Goes was buried - by the way Cornelius and Peter both had their 2 yr old children (Uriah Schermerhorn and Elizabeth Goes - born less than 1 month apart in 1820) baptized at the same time (8/15/1822) - guess where? Gilboa DRC!! This was also after Cornelius D. and Katy (with children) moved north to Canada. I still can't figure out how MY Cornelius fits into the bigger Schermerhorn picture...
