    1. Re: [NYGREENE] Athens Zion Lutheran church congregation
    2. I lived in Schenectady, but my parents travelled 60 miles to Cornwallville in Greene County?to have me baptised. I also had ancestors in Schenectady in the 1700's who travelled to NYC to have their children baptised. I guess folks went "home" for marriages and baptisms, probably to see parents and relatives at the event which?turned into?a family reunion. My brother was born at Catskill hospital, even though we lived in Schenectady. I guess my mom felt more comfortable wit Dr. Bott from Greenville who was her family doctor all her life. I see that there are marriages at the Zion church from people living at Coxsackie. is it possible that people ca. 1800 and previous were traveling to Athens from Coxasackie for church services ???? or were they just relations getting married ??? I can see that they were coming across from Hudson on the ferry - and making the carriage ride from Catskill good enough. but Coxsackie ? jack ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
