    3. I have now determined that Cornelius, John and Isaac had two other brothers who also came over to Greene Co. It appears that 5 brothers - John (b. 1768 and married Maria Brandow), Isaac (b. 1781 and married Elizabeth Deyo), Cornelius (b. 1778 and married Elizabeth Fowler), Derick (b. 1765 and married Elizabeth Sesson) and Laurens (b. 1761 and married Cornelia Brisee) came to Greene Co - Prattsville/Lexington area abt 1800. I see Gysbert and wife Catlyntje being sponsors for Laurens' son Andrew in 1800 in the Prattsville RDC. I have the baptisms for all these sons. There is one other son of this family, Nicholas, b. 1772 that I do not see here in Greene Co. There is also the family of Leendert (Leonard) Decker and Elizabeth Randall. This couple was married in the Linlithgo RDC in Columbia Co on July 2 1780 and removed to Greene county in the early 1800's. They had 5 children that I have found: Elisabeth, b. 1788, Jannetje, b. 1781, William b. 1783, John, b. 1786 (never married) and Nancy b. 1791 (never married). Leendert is the son of Cornelius Decker and Jannetje Conine, bap. 11.11.1752 in Germantown RDC. I believe these are all the old Decker families from up the mountain. Can anyone elaborate on any of the children of Derick and Laurens? What I have to date is: Derick: married Elizabeth Sesson John, b. 1786 married Christine McFall Catalyntje, b. 1788 Sybil, b. 1789 Christina b. 1797 Rebecca b. 1801 James, b. 1803 Dolly, b. 1805 Dolly b. 1808 Polly, b. 1810 James Lawrence, b. 1813 Laurens: married Cornelia Brisee Catalyntje, b. 1785 Cornelius, b. 1786 married Cornelia Laraway Geisbert, b. 1788 Peter, b. 1790 married Cornelia Swart Andrew, b. 1800 married ?? Christina, b. 1801 Anna, b. 1803 Harriet, b. 1804 Gitty, b. 1809 married James Judson Possibly a John L. b. 1795 but can't find a baptism married Margaret (Peggy) ? For the other three brothers: John: married Maria Brandow Mary, b. 1800 Gilbert, b. 1802 Catalina, b. 1803 Isaac, b. 1810 Isaac: married Elizabeth Deyoe Solama, b. 1809 James Gilbert, b. 1811 married Caroline S. Huggans Cornelius: married Elizabeth Fowler Louise, b. 1802 married Lucas D. Schermerhorn Isaac C., b. 1804, married Polly Lament Abner H., b. 1810, married Maria Lasher Lucinda, b. 1818, married Corydon Kipp Anyone know who Giilbert Decker(b. 1808 and married to Christina Scheffer) parent's were? Thanks all Sylvia

    3. Hi Sylvia, Just stumbled across these Deckers in my draft of a new Shufelt book and I thought you might be interested: ------------------------------ 212. Eva ROSSMAN, the daughter of Jacob Rossman and Elisabetha Zufelt (52), was born September 12, 1787, and baptized at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Churchtown, Columbia County, New York, October 21, 1787, with "Henry Zufeld and Maria" serving as sponsors. The baptismal record list the parents as "Jacob Rosmann and Elisabeth." The sponsors at the baptism were most likely Henry A. Zufelt (57) and Maria Roth, the mother's brother and sister-in-law. Eva probably married William Decker and had: Jacob DECKER, the son of William Decker and Eva Rossman (212), was born April 24, 1810, and baptized at the Reformed Church of West Copake, with "Jacob Rosman and Elizebeth Shoevelt" sponsoring. The record of baptism lists the parents names as "William Deckker and Eve Rosman." Tabita DECKER, the daughter of William Decker and Eva Rossman (212), was born September 10, 1812, and baptized at St. Thomas Lutheran Church of Churchtown, with "Sam Lascher *Loesher*, and wife Tabeta" sponsoring. The record of baptism lists the parents names as "William Decker and Eva Rossman." ------------------------------ 1825. Anna TRAFFORD, the daughter of Robert Trafford and Catherine Christina Shufelt (851), was born September 1, 1855. She married, October 25, 1877, Myron A. Decker, the son of Peter and Ida Decker, born about 1855. They lived at Taghkanic, Columbia County, New York, where Myron was a farmer. They had one child. Anna died December 9, 1916, and was buried in Mellenville, New York. Sylvan Myron DECKER, the son of Anna Trafford (1825) and Myron Decker, was born September 25, 1882. He married, about 1908, Catherine __________, born about 1890 in New York, and in 1910 they lived at home with his parents on their farm at Taghkanic, Columbia County, New York. When Sylvan registered for the WW-I draft at Hudson, Columbia County, September 12, 1918, he listed his home as Philmont, Columbia County, and he named his next of kin as Kathryn Decker. Sylvan next appears in the 1930 census of Pittsfield, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, employed as a transformer assembler for an electric company. This 1930 census is confusing. It lists Sylvan's wife as Katherine, born about 1890 and daughter Ruth S. born about 1900. That is fine since the spelling variation between Catherine and Katherine or Kathryn is common. However, listed with them is a "daughter, Helen Muller, age 13, born in Massachusetts with both parents born in Massachusetts. Unless this child was adopted or the census taker a dolt, it seems impossible for her to have been their daughter. Also living with them in the 1930 census is a "Maggie Joy," age 65, born in New York, as were both parents. This remains an unsolved mystery awaiting a future researcher. When Sylvan registered for the WW-II draft at Pittsfield, Berkshire County, Massacheusetts, he listed his place of birth as Taghkanic, Columbia County, New York. Sylvan and Catherine had a daughter, Ruth S., born in 1909. ------------------------------ 1828. Sarah E. TRAFFORD, the daughter of Robert Trafford and Catherine Christina Shufelt (851), was born August 26, 1868. She married, January 30, 1895, Thomas Decker, the son of Rensselaer and Jane Decker, born October 1867. They lived at first at Copake, Columbia County, New York, where Thomas was a farmer, and later Hillsdale, New York. Sarah had one child and she died in 1933. Otis T. DECKER, the son of Thomas Decker and Sarah E. Trafford (1828), was born in Copake, Columbia County, New York, May 19, 1897. He married, about 1919, Frances M. ______, born June 25, 1898. In 1930, they lived in Hudson, New York, where Otis was a pharmacist in a drug store. The had two children-Murial, born about 1920; and Robert S., born about 1922. Otis died August 19, 1989. ---------------------------- 1970. Florence D. VOSBURG, the daughter of Ward Vosburg and Jane Eliza Shufelt (958), was born March 25, 1877. She married, about 1907, John A. Decker, Jr., the son of John A. and Antoinette Decker, born in Hartford, Connecticut September 1878. At the time of the 1910 census they lived in Hartford where John was an insurance agent. In 1920 she was listed as a widow at Hartford and her sister and brother-in-law-Harold S. Green and Ella H. Vosburg (1971)-were living with her. Florence died January 2, 1924. ---------------------------- I also have some info on a Wilbur Henry Decker, son of William H. and Bertha L. Decker, of the tow of Greene, Chenango County. It's in rough form but you're welcome to it if interested. Warm Regards, Jim Groat --------------------------------------- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sylvia Hasenkopf" <[email protected]> To: "Greene County List" <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, January 12, 2009 7:25 PM Subject: [NYGREENE] More Deckers up the mountain <snip> > > Thanks all > Sylvia
