    1. Re: [NYGREENE] Parents of Francis A. Brandow
    2. I would suggest getting copies of Francis (Brandow) Ostrander's death certificate, Justus Brandow's probate papers, and checking the 1875 NYS census (try looking in Jewett and Hunter first) to determine who her parents were. The 1870 Jewett, Greene County, NY census lists this family. While relationships were not stated, it seems likely that Frances was the daughter of Justus and Lanah (Conine) Brandow. Brandow, Justus - 31, male, white, butcher, born NY " Lanah - 32, female, white, keeping house, b. NY " Frances - 4, female, white, b. NY By 1880 Francis Brandow (14) was listed as a servant in the home of Jeremiah E. Haines. Her presumed father, Justice Brandow (42), was now married to Rachall (29), and they had two children, Edith L. (2) and Vernon H. (8 months), all of whom were living in Hunter, Greene County, NY. In 1900 Justice Brandow (61), wife Rachel (48), and their daughters, Edith (22), Virginia (12, b. in Virginia), and Velma (8) were living in Hunter. In 1910 Justus Brandow (71), his second wife Rachel (54), to whom he had been married for 33 years, and their daughter, Virginia (21, b. in Virginia), resided in Hunter. Rachel had given birth to five children, three of whom were still living. The 1900 and 1910 Hunter census indicates that Francis (Brandow) Ostrander, who had gotten married around 1884, had given birth to five children, all of whom were still living. Only four children, Ethel, Peter, Harvey and Lulu, were named on the 1900 census. >I am looking for information on Francis A. Brandow 1866-1940, married to Charles E. Ostrander 1864-1962 and living in Hunter. 4 children: Peter W Ostrander who married Eulalia Grace Benjamin, Ethel Ostrander who married Franklin Benjamin, Harvey Ostrander who married Flora Law and again to Nellie May Proctor, and Lulu Ostrander. Based on the time frame and location I think Francis's parents were Justus Brandow and his first wife Lannah Conine who are buried in the Hunter Village Cemetery. Anyone have any ideas?
