But don't write it in stone yet--I found I had 2 Annatje Brandow's, one born 1747 and the other b. 1753, both married and both daughters of Godfrey, so I'll have to find out what is up with them. -----Original Message----- From: Scott, John (IT) <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Mon, 26 Jan 2009 9:32 am Subject: Re: [NYGREENE] brandow and van buskirk @ Athens. Interesting I did not know that they had located Maria Elizabeth Catharina's maiden name as Reuter. Cool. I have Annatje Brandow b. 8Nov1753 as the daughter of Godfrey Brandow b.1719 in Ulster County and Catrina Overbaugh b.abt 1717. No clue as to Laurens' parents. Godfrey's parents were Johan Wilhelm Brandow b. 1679 in Germany and Maria Elizabetha Catharina Reuter b.abt 1688, also in Germany -----Original Message----- From: Scott, John (IT) <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Mon, 26 Jan 2009 9:19 am Subject: [NYGREENE] brandow and van buskirk @ Athens. At Athens 11 Mar 1753 Annatje Brandow married Laurens Van Buskirk. can anyone say who she was the daughter of ? or he the son of ? the only one I can see is Annatje b. 1717 to Johann William Brandow - and that dau Annatje was married to Johann Schermerhorn. That usually happened [duplicate child names] when the first child died in infancy or early childhood. The next child was given the same name. See my earlier posting where Johann Frederick Brandow and Maria Groat had two daughters named Elizabeth. There are a great many instances of this in my research, particularly in the 18th century. Example: 44. Elizabeth BRANDOW: Elizabeth Brandow, the daughter of Johann Frederick Brandow and Maria Groat (6), was born March 3, 1739, and christened at New Town. According to Loonenburg Lutheran Church records sponsors at the christening were "Gotfried Brandau" and "Lisabeth Graad." Elizabeth probably died in infancy. 45. Elizabetha BRANDOW: Elizabeth Brandow, the daughter of Johann Frederick Brandow and Maria Groat was christened at Catskill Reformed Church, May 30, 1740. Sponsors at the christening were "Johannes Diederich" and "Catharina Brando." She was married in 1760, again at Catskill, to Henry Weber. She was still living, a widow, in 1799. Regards, Jim Groat PS: No "this is my sister Elizabeth and this is my other sister Elizabeth" jokes please. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, January 26, 2009 8:39 AM Subject: Re: [NYGREENE] brandow and van buskirk @ Athens. > But don't write it in stone yet--I found I had 2 Annatje Brandow's, one > born 1747 and the other b. 1753, both married and both daughters of > Godfrey, so I'll have to find out what is up with them. > >
