    3. I May have mentioned before that I have begun the research on a book about Greene County and the Revolutionary War (Loosely titled at this point) The thrust of the book is to identify Men of the Revolution that lived in Greene County. This could mean men who moved there after the Rev War too. At this point I am also thinking of including a Loyalist chapter. I'd like to make this book as meaningful as possible to individuals who are looking for more info on these men. So, I am reaching out to my Greene County community, to ask what you folks would like to see in such a book. I am all "ears"! Also, I'd love to hear from folks who have Patriots and Loyalists in their tree that were in Greene Co, NY! Sylvia

    3. Hi Sylvia, I can add three of my ancestors (below.) Eliphalet Lord served in the Revolution, when living in Connecticut, with the East Windsor Regiment, Lexington Alarm List. He enlisted for three years. He served in the battles of Trenton and White Plains, as well as on ships that formed the picket lines across the Hudson River. He served as a private in Captain Ezekiel Scott's Company in Colonel Samuel Wylly's Regiment. He later received a pension of $8.00 mo. He moved to what is now East Jewett after the Revolution. In Old Time Corners, he is mentioned as a soldier in the Revolution and a pioneer in Jewett. He is buried in Beaches Corners Cemetery. James Tompkins served as a fifer in the 7th Dutchess Co. Militia Regiment under Col. Henry Luddington. He died in Ashland and is buried in North Settlement Cemetery. John Groat served with his father and three brothers in the 8th Regiment, Albany Co. Militia. He came from Claverack, Columbia Co., but moved to what was then Windham after the Revolution and died there. I don't know where he is buried; but, his son John is buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Ashland. Since that son took his mother to apply for a window's pension, I think it likely that they are all buried there. The stones of the son John and his wife Mercy are badly deteriorated and there are some fieldstones to mark graves there, too. Hope this helps.
