    3. As is the case with people everywhere, there are good local historians, and those, not so good. The good ones share their collections with willing hearts, the others can be very possessive about their collections. Oner issue I find worrisome is the question of what happens to the local historians collection when that historian passes away or no longer is the historian. In my mind, I would like to see some kind of policy or working understanding that material donated to a located historian, in their guise as a local historian, becomes the property of the Town whenever the local historian's term ends, for whatever reason. If you are interested in connecting with any Town Historian for the Coutny of Greene, see the list below. I have to say that most Town and Village Historians in Greene County are very helpful. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nygreen2/local_historians_in_greene_county.htm Sylvia ----- Original Message ----- From: "R. Thanks for the blurb on Local Historians! What I like most about this web is that it brings together people, ideas and information that would not be there without it. So in this case, one person raises a question, about an idea I had never considered, and another has information to help us understand. Great stuff. I also want to continue the thanks to Sylvia for her continuing work. 3. I've just read the history of the local historian position in NY state, which started in 1919; and, I contacted them with my questions about the first Jewett historian and any centralized archives. I am glad to have raised a question of interest to others and will let you know what I find out. Thanks so much to Eleanor Larson for her help.
