Sylvia, The original James Riker book (Ron's edition) was Harlem: Its Origins and Early Annals published in 1881. Janice cites the later book from 1904. Both are free on-line on Google books. These books are great for old stories, myths and history, but are unreliable for genealogy and have little to do with Greene County or the Revolution.
