    3. Union Society, now called Brooksburg, was a small settlement midway between the hamlets of Windham and East Windham. It got its name from a church in that vicinity (exact location unknown) that was used for worship by people of all denominations. Children would have attended the nearest one-room schoolhouse. The location of church and school records, if they have survived, is unknown. At the height of the tourist industry Union Society had two large boarding houses, Newcomston Park (later the Greek-owned New Olympia Hotel) and Pleasant Home. Today Brooksburg is identified as the intersection of State Route 23 and County Route 65 (aka Brooksburg Road). The only businesses in this vicinity are Frank's Ski Shop, Main Care Energy, and Crystal Pond condominiums, which occupy the old Newscomston Park site. The Greek Orthodox Church sits where David Davis' Pleasant Home once stood. Mail service is out of the Hensonville post office as there aren't enough homes in this part of town to warrant its own office. Patricia Morrow, Windham Town Historian >Are these any resources that might provide information or description of what the 1860 U.S. Census identifies as the "Union Society Post Office" neighborhood of Windham? More specifically, would residents of this section of Windham have attended any particular church or been educated at some specific school that might have records anywhere?
