    3. Pat, Joshua Lane 56 farmer, with Dolly [Polly] 46, James 19, Eliza J. 17, Mary 15, Ede C. 12, Joseph 9 are in Lexington in the 1855 NY census, which shows that all were born in Ulster County and had lived in Greene for only 6 years. I found Joshua Lane in Olive in 1830 which shows a male in his 30's, another in his 70's and 2 females in their 30's and no children. This matches your Joshua's family before the birth of their children. Also in Olive is a Jacobus Middagh in his 40's, with a wife in her 30's and 7 children (0110001-121101). Joshua & Polly name their eldest son James, the equivalent of Jacobus. The Descendants of Anthonis Gherits Middach by Jack Middaugh (1998 UCGS), has only one Jacobus born in the 1780's, the son of Joris & Susanna Beatty bapt. 17 Oct 1784, Marbletown Ref. Church records (Worden 1987). The book has no further info on Jacobus. Jacob Middag & Elizabeth Wispel baptized a daughter Maria 16 Sep 1804 (born 25 Jul 1804) at the Shokan Ref. Church in Olive. The Middagh book says this Jacob was a brother to Jacobus baptized 14 Jun 1778, also at Marbletown. Jacob & Elizabeth baptized 4 daughters at Shokan: Catrina Rosa 1802, Maria 1804, Antje 1808, and Sally Hunt 1810. I don't see brother Jacobus in the churchbook, so maybe this Jacob and the Jacobus in the census are the same guy. You need more information to figure out if the 1804 girl is your Polly and if her father is Jacob or Jacobus. Looking for any information on the Meddaugh family. Seems there were a lot of them in that area.
