Hi Sylvia, Thank you for asking. They may be shirt-tail relatives--uncles, cousins. My alleged Rev. War ancestor was a Joseph Boughton (Bouton), Sr. "of Danbury, CT", born abt 1740 in Danbury, CT and died aft, Dec 25, 1783, also in Danbury, CT. He had a son, Francis Boughton, 1766-1833, wife, Esther Stowe, Married in 1784, settled in Durham, Greene Co., NY and apparently died there--not sure where buried. I don't see any reference to him on your web page. However, his son, CLARK BOUGHTON (ca. 1789-1865 and his wife, Julia Hyde, b. 1794-95, NY, died-ca. 1855 in WI, lived for a time in Durham,Greenem Co. They and some of their children are listed on your website. Clark helped build the Erie Canal in NY state. They moved to Herkimer Co, NY for awhile then moved to Washington, Co, WI in the late 1840's. Some other children of FRANCIS BOUGHTON are from Greene Co.: Lewis Boughton 1794-1818 Wife, Eleanor Winne (from Cairo) 10 Children Theodocia Boughton1801-1852 Born and married in W. Durham. Married in 1824, to John St. John Elizabeth (Eliza) Boughton 1803-1868, b. W. Durham, Married Chauncey St. John in 1852 and who died in Prattsville, NY, after one year of marrage! Mary Maria (Polly) Boughton 1792-1839 Lived in Oak Hill and Poughkeepsie. She married a Joseph B. Whitman. They had a son, Joseph Whitman who was born in Preston Hollow. He died in East Jewett. There were perhaps others who are listed on your website that may be connected to Francis Boughton I would be interested in any additional information about families connected to the Boughtons of Greene Co.
