Hi Barbara, I would recommend trying to find the couple in New York state's state censuses of 1855 and 1865. In 1855 possible still in NYC and possibly not in NYS in 1865, but I would still check Windham in 1865. Also, not sure whether NJ had state censuses - something to look into. Also the newspapers. If George died in the mid 1860's the Windham Journal may have carried his obit.
