These two articles give a good history of what has happened to the family over time. I think it gives excellent insight that is helpful to family historians and those who are concerned about trends in the world/country. I have read about this problem in the past but don't know where the articles are. I just read a news article about how selective abortion is creating male/female population imbalance, family breakdown, violence and other problems in Asian countries. Thanks for the info on the book. There is an excellent book for genealogist called "The Victorian Homefront: American Thought and Culture, 1860-1880," by Louise L. Stevenson. She explains how our country changed from an emphasis on character development to consumerism. A very interesting book that helps you to understand your family in various time periods.
