    3. I took that step earlier this year by refusing to renew my membership. The Vedder was once a valuable resource for genealogists; but, that is no longer true. The resource materials are there, but the new management does not wish to share them with researchers. The volunteers do what they can, but they are fighting an uphill battle. I have written to the board and given them detail about my last experience there. Clearly the board does not care how the Vedder is now being managed, as I never heard from them in response to my letter; except for requests for more donations from me. I have researched 11 lines of my family and 9 of them are from Greene County. I printed my researched and sourced reports and trees for these lines and took them to the Vedder as a donation. I live out of state, so it was two years before I returned to the Vedder to look for more information and discovered that none of my reports or trees were in the files. When I asked about them, I was shouted down rudely and every time I tried to communicate with this man (NO gentleman,) he shouted louder. A volunteer tried to convince him to listen to what I had to say; but, he just shouted the volunteer down, too. I left. Some weeks later, I got a vey nice note from the volunteer to tell me that my reports had been found on a shelf in the back. Sylvia does so much for all of us in spite of the obstacles put in her way by the new Vedder management. She works hard and puts in many hours. My research would not have gone as far as it did if not for her help and I expect many of you could say the same. They want bigger donations. Let them begin to do half the service that they did during the previous administration if they want any donations at all. They are not doing their job and they don't deserve support. To Sylvia and others who belong to the Greene County Historical Society: Maybe it is time that we all stopped supporting the society. Apparently the current regime is not deserving of our support. I am quite sad that I sent them the extra $$ this year. 3. Sounds like what happened to the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society, which sold their wonderful building full of information to members, to a synagogue, and then put all of the info in the NYPL which makes it nearly inaccessible. What a crime that was and there was a large amount of opposition from members, but that didn't change matters.
