I May have mentioned before that I have begun the research on a book about Greene County and the Revolutionary War (Loosely titled at this point) The thrust of the book is to identify Men of the Revolution that lived in Greene County. This could mean men who moved there after the Rev War too. At this point I am also thinking of including a Loyalist chapter. I'd like to make this book as meaningful as possible to individuals who are looking for more info on these men. So, I am reaching out to my Greene County community, to ask what you folks would like to see in such a book. I am all "ears"! Also, I'd love to hear from folks who have Patriots and Loyalists in their tree that were in Greene Co, NY! Sylvia
You are welcome. My husband's family is from Greene County - specifically Prattsville, Lexington and Ashland. On another note I am Town Historian, Town Clerk, Registrat, RMO for the Town of Minisink in Orange County, NY. I've just read the history of the local historian position in NY state, which started in 1919; and, I contacted them with my questions about the first Jewett historian and any centralized archives. I am glad to have raised a question of interest to others and will let you know what I find out. Thanks so much to Eleanor Larson for her help.
