Sylvia, The original James Riker book (Ron's edition) was Harlem: Its Origins and Early Annals published in 1881. Janice cites the later book from 1904. Both are free on-line on Google books. These books are great for old stories, myths and history, but are unreliable for genealogy and have little to do with Greene County or the Revolution. Hi Gerry - so good to hear from you again! Well, the Stephen Sr definintely was in the Rev War. Stephen Jr was born after the war but possibly was in the War of 1812. Now, I do plan on doing a book on the soldiers of the war of 1812 in the future. So good to know! I love being retired! How did I ever do the things I did each day when I was teaching or preaching? I seem to keep extremely busy in retirement, but happily so.
