Thanks, Sam. I'll have to take a look, that's a new one to me. May add another branch to my Waldron Tree which already lists 13,223 people and 4,412 marriages. I have probably a dozen ancestors mentioned (including Waldron, Ron), with stories of their fights, weddings, travels, etc, based on early records but embroidered somewhat. Much of it can't be confirmed, and some of the info on the European origins of families is pure speculation, usually wrong. Jim, I find that many of the original settlers and their descendants moved up the river to Ulster, Greene and Albany counties. Certainly the case with many of my Waldron ancestors, they arrived largely between 1780 and 1790, possibly as a result of the Revolutionary War. I have found some errors in Toler's List. ~ Ron W ~ In God We Trust, All Others We Monitor ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Harder" <jaharder88@yahoo.com> To: <nygreene@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, December 31, 2010 2:36 PM Subject: Re: [NYGREENE] Riker's > Sylvia, > > The original James Riker book (Ron's edition) was Harlem: Its Origins and > Early > Annals published in 1881. James Tompkins is buried in West Settlement Cemetery in Ashland. North Settlement Cemetery is in Windham. Olive Woodworth compiled a list of Greene County's Revolutionary War soldiers for one of the local DAR Chapters. It's at the NYS Library in Albany. There are four large volumes, compiled by Virgil White, entitled "Genealogical Abstracts of Revolutionary War Pension Files", also at the State Library. Two of my Revolutionary War ancestors, Weeks Rowley and David Foster, are buried in the Lexington Cemetery. Patricia Morrow >James Tompkins served as a fifer in the 7th Dutchess Co. Militia Regiment under Col. Henry Luddington. He died in Ashland and is buried in North Settlement Cemetery.

Hi Sylvia, Great Project to work on. The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) and it counterpart for the ladies, DAR are good sources for look-ups for background information about your Rev War Ancestor-if they have been applied for and approved. I note that some of the Patriot names posted here recently do show up as SAR/DAR Patriots-and some do not. For those who do appear (on CDs, websites, books that are accessable), these are great sources for finding more about your ancestor. I note that some of the responders to this list are not members of these SAR/DAR groups. If they want more information they can get it from the appropriate web sites (sar.org or dar.org) or I can be of some help. There must be chapters in the areas where your responders live. For instance, yes there was a Reuben White SAR Patriot-but he served in VA-not the same one. DAR does not have one, so this would be a new Patriot for both the DAR and the SAR if somebody wants to apply under this Patriot. Patriot John Tompkins has lots of applicants in SAR, so the Osborne's have lots of "cousins" who are members out there! Of course there is also the "Sons of the Revolution"-separate organization) Fred Boughton, Nevada State SAR Registrar (Former resident of West Coxsackie, now Las Vegas, NV)
