Nedra, I just sent you an email from the 1920 census showing Peter W. King, aged 74, a widower as head of household, his son Howard H. 36, his wife Mabel L., aged 36 and Howard's children Eben C., aged 4 1/2 and Woodbridge H. 7. Does that answer your question? Wish that was the case. I had THE worst attack this year as I was digitizing the Smith Butler cemetery. Had it EVERYWHERE, even on my face. It was so hot that I brushed my hair back and viola. Of course, I know I am allergic, but I just simply forget when I get into working on a cemetery! I've now transcribed about 375 cemeteries in Greene County and have had poison ivy only 3 or 4 times. Met some snakes a few times, but the worst was when I was in Prattsville doing a cemetery and it was raining tent caterpillars. It was a really bad season for them and they were all over the cemetery stones and falling off the trees as I worked! Eben and Florence King were members of the Reformed Church in Athens and are buried here I presume. Was Howard King the father of Eben? There is still a King farm in Athens, and Eben's son and grandson are still running it. I have several of the church records in books published by Jean Worden (or Kelly - I have to look). Tell me who you are looking for and give me some dates. I will be happy to do a look-up for you. My medical books say no one is immune to poison ivy. However, some are more susceptible than others. It depends on the contact. Some can get it just by being near. Others from actually touching the leaves. Others only by coming in direct contact with the roots. I never got poison ivy while all my sisters were highly allergic. After I was married, I thought it smart to pull some up because my husband was highly allergic. I even wore gloves, but ended up with the worst case ever. Now that I have had it once, I get it just by being near. Silly story, I suppose and nothing to do with Genealogy, but a warning to all - Always beware. There is still a King farm in Athens, and Eben's son and grandson are still running it. Janice Eben Chamberlain King born 9 June 1915, died February 1995. Florence M. Wagner King was born 17 March 1917, died 9 July 1998 Both resided in Athens, per the SSDI. We have requested the death certificate for Eben King. He was the son of Howard Haviland King who is buried in the Athens Cemetery. Perhaps the online listing does not include dates as recent as 1995. Again, thank you so much for the assistance. Nedra
Thank you both for the reply and most appreciated offers to help. Harry Herr and Mary Hotaling, 22 November 1871 Howard H. King and Mabel Herr, 3 April 1907 Eben C. King and Florence Wagner, 23 May 1937 All supposedly in Athens. I have the tombstone info from the Athens Rural Cemetery from hopefarm.com Thank you for whatever information you might find. Is there a source for Athens marriage records prior to the start of the state's record keeping? Also, since it does not need to be certified, is there another source for those in the 1900s without paying the state's $22.00? The Village of Athens clerk told me to order these from the state. This is the first time that a town clerk has not been helpful. Thank you, Nedra

Ray, If you should ever decide to visit the Gayhead cemetery in Greeneville be aware that the last time I visited it in the summer it was covered in poison ivy.
