    1. Our Birthday
    2. Annette Campbell
    3. Although I don't have the time to transcribe as I did at the inception of our wonderful Greene County website, I am honored to help as I can. Sylvia is the just the greatest and has guided us all to develop absolutely one of the best genealogy sites in the country. I must tho give Joyce Reidinger of the Delaware County a hand of applause too for her help and a great website, next door to all of us. Happy Birthday Tracing Your Roots in Greene County. God Bless us one and all. Annette Campbell

    3. Sylvia, I can do some more transcribing for you. Just let me know what. Again, thanks for all you are doing. Beth Dalzell Sylvia Hasenkopf <esi@francomm.com> wrote: Hello fellow researchers. I am pround to announce that the Tracing your Roots in Greene Co website is now, officially, in its 6th year! Our birthday was yesterday, May 1st. Wow! Once again, my profuse thanks to all contributors to the site, whose unselfish sharing of material and transcription help have made this a true tool to researchers of Greene Co. genealogy and history. My particular thanks to Annette Campbell, who was with me at the birth of this site, and continues to be its number 1 supporter. Also, my sincere thanks to Arlene Goodwin, who for years has transcribed reems of material for the site, even though she lives in Indiana and has no connection to Greene Co. We lost Arlene's assistance this year to poor health. And thank you to all the recent volunteers, who jumped into the breach to transcribe over a years worth of obituaries from 4 newspapers. You guys - and gals - are wonderful! What's coming this year? Well, lots of things! In the pipeline: 1) More cemeteries - my personal project - looking to transcribe, Pleasant Valley, Ashland, Fairlawn in Prattsville, Elka Park, Hunter, Old Section Chestnut Lawn (fingers crossed), Earlton Community cemetery and a bunch of small ones in New Baltimore 2) Church records - I have, ready for transcription - Gloria Dei Episcopal (Palenville), Simpson Memorial Methodist (Palenville), St. Paul's Lutheran (Oak Hill), Kiskatom Methodist Circuit (Catskill), Blue Mountain Reformed (Ulster Co, but lots of Greene Co folk in there) 3) Greene Co Town Clerks Records of the Officers, Soldiers and Seamen of the Civil War 4)All kinds of great stuff! 3. For the few of you who know me, I am Floyd Howard of Sidney, NY. My family lived all over Greene County from the early 1800's through the 1960's. The Howard's were connected to many other names, Barhight, Brandow, Walters and others. This site and it's sister site, Delaware County, but mostly Greene County helped connect or locate second cousins all over the United States. Many have come out and let me give them a tour of the cemeteries. I feel that Greene County is really my home. On Friday I am putting my health problems and traveling to France to see my cousin for the first time since 1972 and this will be my first trip since 1959 (I was 12). I found my cousins again with help from a man at the CHAMBER OF COMMERCE in Angers, France who speaks English. Through an article in the paper we found all kinds of relatives. It just shows that there all kinds of help and sources out there. This site has been Wonderful. Thanks Sylvia. I any of you get a chance to meet Sylvia and work with her on a project, your very lucky. Same with Pat Morrow and many others. Take care. 3. Hi, I just learned today that my great-great uncle Sailor (John?) Kalney was an engineer on the ferry that ran between Athens and Hudson. I believe he came up from Tarrytown with the crew and then went back when the service was discontinued. He was married to Sarah HALLENBECK. Any suggestions for where I could get more info with regards to his work on the ferry?? Thanks, Jeremy http://jeremyjtaylor.tripod.com *Updated March 2005* "We do not inherit the Earth from our parents, we borrow it from our children."

About a dozen of them here: http://searches1.rootsweb.com/usgenweb/archives/wi/walworth/land/walw-t-z.txt Three more here: http://searches1.rootsweb.com/usgenweb/archives/wi/walworth/biographies/1882ndex.txt More here: http://home.earthlink.net/~jmoule/moule/wc01/wc01_106.html Appears to me that it is/was a proper surname. - Ron W. - A day without genealogy is a day wasted. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Audrey Klinkenberg" <genie2@hvc.rr.com> To: <NYGREENE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, April 29, 2005 7:56 AM Subject: Re: [GREENE COUNTY] Teetshorn > It is an interesting name and has caused much correspondence over the > years. > I think they came either from Albany or Columbia County. > > Audrey Klinkenberg > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Susan Malone" <smalone@emcity.net> > To: <NYGREENE-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Thursday, April 28, 2005 11:09 PM > Subject: [GREENE COUNTY] Teetshorn > > >> >> Does anyone know anything about John Teetshorn who married Margaret B. >> Sax? They moved to Wisconsin with their children from Greene County NY. I did find this on the site: FREDERICK SAX of Catskill Will Probated June 1 1832 Heirs: Wife, Maria; Hannah, wife of Clark Lawrence; Margaret, wife of John Teetshorn. Executors: John, Paul and Jacob VanOrden. Witnesses: Isaac Dubois, Abraham VanVechten and Robert Dorlon. Any ideas about what Teetshorn might have been changed from? Otherwise it seems they dropped from the sky :-) Thanks for any help you can give me. I am trying to help my neighbor who is just beginning to do genealogy. Susan
