Hi. Just love to see all this activity. This site and the Vedder Library have helped me in my family search. I'm looking into the LEWIS family. My great grandfather was: Charles Lewis b 1865(?) d 1899 m Anna Waters in 1891. His parents were: Jacob Lewis b1826(?) d 1910 m Annah Magee b 1830(?) d 1885 Other children of Jacob and Annah include: William b 1849 (?) d 1906 m Julia Barringer b 1845(?) d 1906 Carrie b 1873 (?) d 1922 m Jay Layman in 1900 J. Anna b 1868 (?) d 1927 Marietta b 1862 (?) d 1906 m Henry Chartres Richard b 1854(?) d 1928 m Jennie Noble James b 1850(?) died 1891 m Leah Hommel Sarah b 1857 (?) m ? Beare Eva b 1860 (?) died 1886 m David Van Orden There are many blank spaces and no family oral history as Charles died when my grandfather was 6 year old and my grandfather then went to live with his maternal grandparents, Mortimer and Abigail Jackson Waters in Schoharie County. Have also seen the name of Erastus Lewis but don't know what the connection is. Any and all information would be appreciated. This has been the elusive side of our family for many, many years. Thanks in advance for any help. Sylvia, thank you for setting off the spark again. Another daughter is Lucinda. I have documentation proving that she's Conrad's daughter. (Lucinda's husband is Jacob Garrison of Cairo.) Researching the Brown Family of Green County - (Salisbury) Josiah & Lois Chapman Brown - Beaches Corners - Jewitt - Eastkill. (Josiah - abt 1741 - 1818) Josiah - his son - his father and whole bunch of them are buried and/or memorialized at that cemetery. Their children: Melvin, Stace ( Coxsackie) Lois (Hinman) Nathan, Leman, Horace, Edith ( Merritt) Zadock, Josiah Before heading to Green County - Josiah & Lois Brown lived in No. Salem, Westchester - before that over the hill in CT - in Dutchess County on the Beekman Patent. You will find these folks turning up in Coxsackie - Jewitt/Hunter - Rensselaerville, Coeymans, Coeyman's Hallow, Schoharie, Glenville and Cayuga County - ( Ledyard - Scipio ) Tioga & Tompkins County ( Danby & Enfield) Also in Hinckley, Medina County, Ohio ZJ & HR Brown - of Schoharie - the Schoharie Marble Works. Interested in all - but most of all - I would like to find out more on the wife of Melvin Brown born 1772 (my line) baptism Salem, Christ Church - Westchester. Wife: Polly Salisbury. Melvin opened a store in Scipio, Cayuga County in 1808. He made potash and took it back to Albany to sell for goods to take back to the store. Melvin may have lived in Glenville with his brother Nathan for a while before 1810 and he may have lived in Marcelus - Onandago County early on. Their first child Horace - 1810. Other children: Grace Clara Brown ( married ZJ Brown) Nancy (Trim) Eliza (Sawer) Synthia (Rice) Horace (Elizabeth Neal) and Parvis Austin Brown ( never married ) My big question: Who are the parents of Polly Salisbury (wife of Melvin) She may have come from Troy ??? She may have come from a Salisbury Family in Cayuga County - or Melvin may have "picked her along the way" perhaps in Greene County or Saratoga !!! Polly was born perhaps about 1793 ish ... and died in 1858 - she and Melvin are buried in the Ledyard Cemetery, Cayuga County. Mark Brown New Paltz, NY and Lodi, NY 4rmb@att.net Other names: Knefley - Jenney - Cross - Peck - Viele - Freer - Palmatier - Bristol - Salisbury - Bartholomew - Neal - O'Neil - Murphy - Kaut - Fitzsimmons, Dillon - Danielson - Weldon - Byer - Schmidt - Kerbig, Kerbich, Karbach, Carbach, Caback - Dorman - West - Choate - Chuback - Hinman - Peabody - Doyle - ( I give up there are more )

I joined a short while ago to find out more about the Schermerhorn Bible that was sold on ebay. Thanks to everyone for their advice especially Pat Morrow. My cousin never heard from the seller so I took Pat's advice and contacted the buyer. I wasn't too sure at first how it was going to work out. Your shotgun approach is really working. As a sometime gambler here in Las Vegas, NV--I always hoped that I would hit the jackpot. Today, after culling thru the long list of responses, I did with Linda Johnson Slawson's note (below) My line includes Francis and Esther Stowe. My G+father included Clark Boughton, one of the 10 (perhaps more) children of Francis and Esther. I have documentation from Clark to me and their children (some blanks need filling). Clark's wife, Julia (Hyde) and some of her children are mentioned in your (Sylvia's) Greene Co. web site in church enrollees and baptisms (2nd Presbyterian?) Francis's brother Joseph and his wife lived and died in Rensselaer Co. (I have a website that has pictures of their graves). The information she gave about Joseph visiting his brother Francis probably came from the "Boughton-Bouton Family" by James Boughton, 1890 (in the State Library in Albany). After working on the Erie Canal, Clark moved his entire family to Port Washington, WI. in about 1846. They had migrated to Herkimer Co. before that from Greene Co. I'm not sure where Francis and Esther died and where buried. Francis and Joseph's father, Joseph, Sr. was a Revolutionary War Soldier who I used to qualify for the National Society of the Sons of the Revolution. Perhaps Linda Johnson Slawson would like to contact me off-list to compare notes.
