    3. Hi Melanie - bascially, I have material here that I'd like to put ion the Greene Co website, and I just can't type it up fast enough. In particular, there are obituaries from the 4 local newspapers, which is an ongoing project. I would send a month or two's supply out, the volunteer would type it up in Word format, and if there person doesn't have Word, right in the body of the email and then send a month back to me at a time, as an attachment to an email. Once I look through the obits, I get back to the person and they can throw away the originals. How is a month's supply? Well. if it is the Daily Mail - that's alot - it is a daily paper after all - about 20-30 pages of typing in Word with a 12 font. For the other 3 papers, which are weekly, a month would be 2-4 pages in Word. For those who volunteer regularly, I sometimes come across more challenging projects, such as church records, biographies etc. - and I send those out to them, if they are interested. 3. Hi Sylvia! I do medical transcription for my living from my home so I am very comfortable with transcribing. I can help any time if sending stuff to North Carolina is not a problem for you, or do you do everything online like we do at my office? In any case, you can always count on me! This site has been such a lifeline for a beginning genealogist! 3. Pamela, I am interested in information about Julia HYDE, wife of Clark Boughton (see her entries of baptisms and church membership on the Greene Co website). Info on birthplace? parentage? She died in a drowning in excursion boat sinking off of Port Washington, WI, about 1856. I found her marriage in Rhinebeck, NY She used the name Haight. The listing was in one of the books about the "Stone Church" in Dutchess Co. I copied the appropriate pages from a microfiche from the LDS Family History Center. The were married in 1811. 3. The list membership would be interested to know that the "NY Veteran Corps of Artillery" is a part heritage group, part quasi-military where decendants of military persons of the War of 1812 may apply for membership. Others who are not such decendants, may also join. See their website at: http://www.vca1790.org/ .Interesting photo gallery. One mission of the VCA-NY is to protect the NY Governor (at parades, etc.) They are based in NYC. Fred Boughton Las Vegas, NV

SURNAMES; WAN WIE, TRAVER, MANNING, HOUGHTALING, RICE, FREEMAN, WYNCOOP,CARPENTER, HUYCK, HOLMES My Grandfather, Clarence Ray Traver was born Oct. 1887 in Coxsackie, ny to Charles Henry Traver & Emeline Van Wie (can trace Van Wie back to Johannes A. Wan Vie & Alida Van Wie in 1700's) Would like info on Chole Holmes married to Hendrick Van Wie in 1801. Need info on Jane Huyck married to John V. N. Houghtaling, their daughter Rebecca Jane Houghtaling Married Cornelius Henry Van Wie in around 1850's. Need info to trace parents of Charles Henry Traver, I only know they are Reuben Traver probably born abt. 1820 and his wife Mary Jane Manning born abt. the same time. Am fairly certain of at least 3 children...Charles Henry born abt. 1853, Theodore born abt. 1851and Lorinda born ab.t 1856. Charles Henry died in 1899 of pneumonia, can't find burial spot, supposedly in Esopus...After his death I do find Mary Jane referring to herself as Jane and living at one time with Theodore Traver in Esopus and his wife Cathrine (spelling?)... These are just a few of my "bricks"....Also I probably have info to share with many of those new found cousins out there. Bernce catscan@Buckeye-Express.com Many thanks to all and this is truly a great list!!!

    3. You can have free photo albums on Yahoo. You may share the pictures or just keep them to yourself. I put my old pictures there in case my computer crashes and I lose what I have scanned and entered in my files. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Groat" <jgroat1@midsouth.rr.com> To: <NYGREENE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, September 23, 2005 5:11 PM Subject: RE: [GREENE COUNTY] photographs > Susan, > > There are no provisions for attachments to the list. 3. Susan, There are no provisions for attachments to the list. If you need to send attachments, you'll need to send them directly to the individual(s) you wish to view them. Regarding the analysis of the age of photo's, one way to get them looked at by anyone on the list wishing to do so is to post them on a web page for all to look at. If you don't have access to a web page on which to do so, I may be able to help you by putting them on my web page. You can then post a message to this list telling people where they are and asking them to look at them. Regards, Jim -----Original Message----- From: Susan Smith-Hunter [mailto:fineart@sover.net] Sent: Friday, September 23, 2005 11:08 AM To: NYGREENE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [GREENE COUNTY] photographs Patricia- A week or so ago I tried sending some ancestor photos to the list, but I think they didn't survive the translation. I will send again. My question is whether you might know anyone who is an expert in analyzing old photos as to their age. I have a photo of a male ancestor that I would very much like to know more about. The article is about William > (listed above). > It is possible that her maiden name may not Brink??? Seems possible. The name "Brink" appears in those Woodstock baptism records (as found on the Olive Tree pages) in the same time frames. Didn't appear to have a problem spelling it for other people. Regards, Peggy
