    2. On that Coons Bible, did you find any that were married to first a Wright and then a Patterson? I have a ggggrandmother who was either a Koontz (another variation) or a Wright as a maiden name and married the other before marrying the Patterson. My person was named Henrietta (Etta) and she married last to an Obed Patterson who lived in Grove, Allegany Co., NY. She is my brick wall. 3. Clyde, Those "orbs" have ruined several of my digital photos! I finally went out and purchased a new memory chip, and the problem seems to now be resolved. My husband has Schermerhorns in his ancestry, descent is from Reyer Jacobse (c.1652 to 1718/19, died Schenectady, Albany Co NY). He also had Vedder/Veeder, Wemp, Bradt/Bratt, Wemple, Vreeland/Freeland. He was so surprised to find that he descended from Dutch ancestors, having previously known only about the Irish family they eventually married into. I have tried for years to identify the parents of my Rice ancestor - Elizabeth, who married Thomas Allen Faunce 10 Sep 1798, probably in MA. Although they removed to Ontario Co NY, I don't know of any Greene Co connection . . . that is, until her granddaughter married Israel Ferris Huse/Hughes in Geauga Co OH, and he was born in Durham, Greene Co NY. My Huse and Tyler ancestors of Durham, hailed from East Haven (New Haven Co) CT, also from Goshen (Fairfield Co) CT. My Searing/Serrin ancestors came to Greene County from Columbia County, but were originally from Long Island. 2. Always interesting, items from this site! My Rice's, (Royce's really), were in Greene Co. 1790 through 1815 or so. On our recent trip back that way, I found Schmerehorns, talked about a bunch on here, buried along with some of my Rices, in the cemetery at Limestone, NY. (Anyone want names, I copied them.) A generation or two later, but likely some of the same family. It took my family about 50 years to go from Greene Co. out the west end of NY. It was very interesting retracing their trail, (in less than 5 days)! And there were Kuntz/Koontz, (Coons?), living close to them in Northeast NE. in the early 1900's. Some of these names just seem to have traveled along the same route west, together! I am also wondering if our Vader's were actually Vedders? I think the pronunciation would be much the same, like Royce was actually pronounced as Rice, boil as bile, Royal as rile and hoist as heist! And thanks, Sylvia, for your help while we were in the Catskill/Leeds area! Clyde Rice > Yup - the fingers have been going wild lately! > > Interested in any family bible records out there! 2. I too, am a little late jumping in here. My roots in Greene County are very shallow. My great-grandfather Martin LUETJEN/LUTJEN and his wife Helena along with their 5 children John, Martin, Anna Katharine, Charles and Herman moved from Germany to Catskill. This was sometime between 04 January 1881 (when Herman was born), and 15 December 1883, when my grandfather George was born. His sister Helen was born in Catskill on 18 April 1885. Sometime before August of 1887 they moved on to Connecticut. If you should come across this family in any records I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you, Bobbi
