In the 1880 Census - 1880 Hunter/Greene Lucy A. Craig Ae 51 NY Katie Reynolds ae25 (neice) Joshua Reynolds ae 26 LIzzie Reynolds ae 6 and it states that Katie is a neice of Lucy - I'm guessing that Joshua and Katie are married - I suspect that a record of the marriage of the two might give you some interesting info - I happen to have Reynolds relatives but I don't know that I have Joshua - but I'll look closer. I wonder if the James James who is ae 78 Ireland in the Greene County Home - could be the father of Lucy..... it would be good to see if you can find him as the father of a family in the 1850 Census - showing he had a daughter Lucy - and perhaps some other who could be traced to "Neice" Katie. Also - you've probably seen 1860 Lucia Craig - ae 31 - Hunter/Greene - this would appear to be the same Lucy. I'll keep looking - Mark HI my apologies - I feel a little foolish - seeing that the Swain article was contributed by you. You have done quite a bit - I also saw Shubael in the NJ census - with your note. It's wasn't clear in the post that you knew about the Swain connection. Looking at it again - you write that the daughter of one of these families married a Craig - could the answer be with the 1880 Census Results - 1880 Hunter/Greene Lucy A. Craig Ae 51 NY Katie Reynolds ae25 (neice) Joshua Reynolds ae 26 LIzzie Reynolds ae 6 As Joshua Reynolds appears to be the husband of Katie Reynolds - a niece of Lucy - that means that Katie's mom was probably a Craig ? Maybe or is there another way for her to be a niece ? Just a thought - Mark My gr gr grandfather, willed his summer farm in Tannersville, to a Lucy A. Craig, to be then passed on to her son at her death. I have never been able to find out who she was. She is on an old map of Tannersville, and she appears to be a Miss. If anyone with books on the area finds anything about her, would they please let me know- the only possibility I know of so far, is that his daughter married into a family who were neighbors of another family- they had duplicate mansions. The daughter of one of these families married a Craig, so Lucy may be connected with her somehow. There are many Lucy A. Craigs around. 3. Seward: Where did you find that pension paper? I have the application papers for Sophia to obtain a widows pension and for several of the younger kids to receive a pension when Jacob Hornbeck was killed at Bottom's Bridge, Va. in fevruary 1864. I got these papers at the National Archives in Washington. In these papers, she had to prove she was married and she attested to being married at Chapman's Hotel in August 1844 by Rev. Hedtrom (misspelled) and a few people had to attest with her. I haven't reviewed these in some time, but I don't recall ever seeing that Hedtrom was an elder, nor do I recall a church being mentioned. (I do wonder what building was actually Chapman's Hotel.)
