Mrs. Walsh has been in poor health for two years, and for the last year has been a great sufferer, but bore her sufferings without a murmur, and waited patiently for the messenger of Death to call her home. The deceased was formerly the husband of Warren Hawkins, who died in Alexander in 1857. She afterwards married Thomas Walsh, who died in Omaha about eight years ago, since that time she has resided with her parents. The father and mother are still living, and in good health, the father being 83, the mother 75. They are old residents of Alexander, having lived here since 1836. The mother was sister to Taylor Goodell, formerly of Attica. They have reared thirteen children, then of whom are now living. Nine of them were present at the funeral. R.G. Avery, Jr., one of the sons is conductor on the Buffalo and Jamestown railroad, and John G. Avery, another son, is one of the proprietors of the Continental Hotel in Buffalo. The children all occupy respectable positions, and what is specially commendable in these children is the fact that for a long number of years it has been their practice to meet around the parental table once in each year, and it is the especial pride of these children to amply provide for the support of their aged parents.
