    3. Billy: Sheldon is a Town formed 1808, now in Wyoming Co., NY. A Town in New York State, and several eastern states is actually a township and it may or may not have a town or village in it of the same name. In this case Trip Maker 2000 shows a town or village named Sheldon in Wyoming, which "odds on" is in the Town of Sheldon. I cannot find it on two different Atlases that I have which indicates it may be a settlement, rather than a village. Using Trip Maker 2000 it is about 13 miles east of East Aurora, NY. Trip Maker 2000 did not show a road to Sheldon which seems to confirm that it is very small. Per page 285 of the ninth edition of the Handybook for Genealogists, Wyoming Co., NY was formed 19 May 1841 from Genesee Co., NY. Richard L.
