I am researching COGSWELLs who came to Western New York State (Genesee County) in the early 1800s. I am currently working on Thomas COGSWELL of Attica, NY, and his descendants. Thomas Cogswell was born in Canterbury, NH in 1792 and arrived in Genesee County, NY in the early 1800s, living first in Alexander and then moving to Attica in 1817. His father-in-law, Parmento Adams arrived in Genesee County in 1804.
