Looking for Peter Lothian, who was born 2 Mar 1829 'near Rochester, in Genesee, NY' according to his obituary in Humboldt Co., CA, where he died by drowning on 4 Sep 1864. Although that birthdate doesn't quite match up with his tombstone inscription: Lothian, Peter 4 Sep. 1864 38yr. 6mo. 2da. I think he may have had a brother Archibald, from reading the 1860 Humboldt Co.
