Buffalo News December 21, 2004 BIRD - Beatrice J. CARPENTER, former nurse 12/21/2004 BATAVIA - Beatrice J. "Bee" Carpenter Bird, formerly of Attica, died Monday in Crossroads House, Batavia. She was 85. Born Beatrice J. Clor in Orangeville, she graduated from Attica High School. A 1940 graduate of Warsaw Hospital Nursing School, she worked as a nurse at Warsaw High School, retiring as supervisor of Wyoming County Protective Child Services. A lover of music, she played with dance bands for 35 years and taught piano and organ lessons in her home. A devoted member of Attica First Presbyterian Church, she served on the board of trustees and was the church organist for 10 years. Her first husband, Orville E. Carpenter, died in 1984. Her second husband, William R. Bird, died in 2002. Surviving are three daughters, Jody Vance of San Diego, Peggy Sacheli of Batavia and Kay Schmidt of Pittsburgh; three stepchildren, John Bird of Sarasota, Fla., Kathy Stewart of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Gary Bird of Batavia; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson. A service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Attica First Presbyterian Church, Main and Prospect streets. Burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery. Heidi Quider Gohn
