    3. Thanks to Dorothy and Wilfred for their help re: the ancestors of Adelbert Thompson (1846-1919). Dad is going to be making application to the SUVCW through Del, who was a private in Capt. Rogers' Company, 19th NY Light Artillery. Del saw some pretty hair-raising action at Cold Harbor in 1864. He was one of only a few who were still standing after a Reb attack on their position--he kept the cannons firing! Somewhere I have Prentice or Prentiss Thompson down for his father. I did not have his mother. I'll investigate. On the family's origins prior to the REvolution: Washington County, NY and before that, Palmer, Mass. More to check! We have a superb genealogy library at the capitol in Phoenix--this will be #1 to research next week. What do you folks have on the Duers family in Genesee County? Del married Elsie Duers in 1864. Their only son, William H. Thompson, was born in 1867. Take good care--John ===== "Letter writing is the only device for combining solitude and good company." - Lord Byron (1788-1824) "One more shot for the honour of Down!" - Rollicking Rollo (1766-1814) Hero of County Down, IR __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
