Among the first settlers to Linden, Genesee County, New York, were Alexander, Jacob, and Andrew GRIMES. My 3g grandmother, Caroline GRIMES, was said to come to Linden with her "father's family" in 1820. I am trying to learn of that family. Records of the census appear to rule out Alexander and Jacob, leaving Andrew the likely father. Caroline GRIMES was born in 1806, Boston, Massachusetts. She married about 1835, prob. New York, Elisha P. WELLS. Widowed early, she raised three sons on her own and never re-married. I would appreciate any information you might share on this branch of the GRIMES family.
