    3. The first residence given, according to Lewis Decker, is birthplace. Following is the article in it's entirety other than the recruits. LOCAL RECRUITS IN WAR OF 1812 by Lewis G. Decker Fulton Co. Historian The following information comes to us from the Johnstown Historical Society Museum Library. I consider it a rare find and due to its importance, believe it should be copied and shared so that there are other copies. The information found here is hard to come by, pertaining to the War of 1812 and that period in our Nation and our locality. By the year 2012 we will be celebrating this part of our Natiions history, on its 200th Anniversary and local historians across the Nation will be scrambling for information in their localities. Anything we can find now, will be of help to those in the future. The War of 1812 had a great impact on us here in Fulton Co. and our State of New York; armies marched through our county on their way to the Canadian border. The information found in this old ledger lists a number of local residents, recruits during that war. It as well gives us names, their descriptions, occupations, residence and where they were born. This should prove to be of interest not only to historians but to genealogist and those searching their family tree. I wish to thank the Johnstown Historical Society and the President, Lance Lord, for allowing us to copy this rare document and also the Leader Herald for allowing us space in their newspaper to share it with you.
