Hello, I am back on the list after being away a few years. My interest is the Tyler-Roberson connection in Broadalbin circa 1836-1842. Gr-gr-grandfather Milton Tyler lived in Broadalbin after marrying Caroline Brown in Hartford, Washington, NY. Three of their four children were born in Broadalbin, the fourth in Ontario Center, Wayne, NY. That child, James Roberson Tyler became my gr-grandfather. The US Census for 1840 lists James Roberson two lines below Milton Tyler. Does that mean they were neighbors? I did find in a Fulton County history a profile of James Roberson indicating that he was a prominent man. Maybe Milton was a tenant as I do not believe he was a landowner. At the time Milton was in Broadablin there was a Hannah and James Tyler living there. By 1841 or 2 both had died and Milton removed to Ontario Center. Milton is my brick wall. I am seeking any information from Roberson descendants or anyone else about the Tyler-Roberson connection that might remove the brick wall. Thank you. Jim Tyler Syracuse, NY
Hi Jim, I saw that you were inquiring about a Roberson family from Broadalbin, NY. I am related to an Anthony Roberson who was the son of Daniel Roberson and Elisabeth Slingerland. Anthony was baptized in the Schenectady Reformed Church on 25 Jun 1771. I also have another person who may be a Roberson from Broadalbin. I have her name as Mary Jane Robertson. She was born about 1815 and married John Goodemote about 1835. They had a daughter, Mary Jane who was born 15 Mar 1842 and married Abraham Hart about 1858. Please let me know if you have any information on either of these families. Richard
