I receive the text from a cousin a couple of years ago and she just passed away this spring. Here is the text of the article: the newspaper article didn't contain the name of the newspaper in which it appeared. "BODY OF WHITE FOUND IN DITCH ALONG HIGHWAY April 23,1931 Apparently murdered by a blow to the side of his head, William White was found dead 15 feet off the Northville Edinburg road about 10:30 pm by a neighbor George Maxon. Maxon claimed he was on his way over to White's house when we spotted White in the ditch by the bright moonlight. He then went to a neighbors house to report it. The neighbor accompanied Maxon to the scene and then went to the police report it. When the police questioned him about it, Maxon changed his story so much that they grew suspicious. After finding bloody clothing in a search of Maxon's house, they then placed him under arrest. Maxon then confessed to the murder. The police said that Maxon had a really low mentality and that they had encountered previous problems with this individual. The motivation for the murder was never made clear. Maxon said that it was over a housekeeper who had left Maxon's employ a couple of months earlier. (How! could a man of this stature have a housekeeper?) He only worked at odd jobs long enough to buy booze. The police indicated Maxon needed to really be cleaned up before they could put him in jail. He was full of lice and his underwear had not be changed in many moons. White on the other hand was known to have a good reputation in the village. He was an industrious sober individual who minded his own business. He purchased the farm from a man in Benton Harbor, Michigan by the name of Frank Slossum about four years earlier. It was reported that White's actual cause of death was strangulation." I think I should send for a death certificate, should I send for one from Fulton Co. or do I have to send to the State? I'm hoping that the death certificate would indicate where William Felix was born. Thanks so much! Ruth
