I have a 1905 "Johnstown Daily Republican" obituary for my gr grandmother indicating she was buried at St. Patrick's Cemetery where, I assume, her husband had also been buried in 1887. The problem is the records of that cemetery do not show John and/or Honora are buried there. St. Pat's cemetery records do show that a daughter, Mary J. King, was buried there in 1879 (she actually has a tombstone!!). In an effort to "keep an open mind", I thought it possible John and Honora may have been buried at another catholic cemetery in Johnstown. (Note: Honora King actually died in Chicago and her remains were "shipped" back to Johnstown for burial. I kind of figured the children did this so that Honora could "rest" beside/with her husband, John) While internet surfing, I found there are two other catholic cemeteries in Johnstown: St. Anthony and Mt. Carmel. I have written to the Albany Diocese and they "have no information regarding these cemeteries". I would really like to know: 1) when St. Anthony's and Mt. Carmel opened 2) how do I contact these cemeteries to check for a burial My...it's very hard to get any Catholic Church/Catholic Cemetery information for Johnstown!!! I will very, very much appreciate any help you can give me. Kitty Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
