The Broadalbin Cemetery records may have started in 1850 even though the cemetery was 50 or more years old at that time. Many of the records were reportedly lost when the drug store burned, and the owner was holding those records at his place of business. Records today seem to start at about 1939. This seems like quite a while ago, but not to a person working on genealogy. On churches-- The first Catholic church started around 1886, the Methodist church has a scattering of records (recorded in 1930 by the DAR) and on line. It is said that the pastors considered the records theirs and took them when they moved. The Baptist church burned to the ground in Nov. 1877 and anything they may have had were lost. The Presbyterian church supposedly has some records, but they are very protective of them and I have never had a chance to look at them. Vitals in the Town start in 1883 and vitals in the Village of Broadalbin did not start until after it was incorporated in 1924. I believe we all suffer with NYS brick walls.
