Hello All, My connection to the Crannell family starts with Isaac M. Crannell's marriage to Emma J. Brown about 1888. Isaac Crannell is the son of Moses Crannell and Lucy A. from Warren County. I have information on their 6 children. I have also taken the Crannell family back to the immigrant ancestor Robert Crannell. He was born in Devonshire, England about 1670. He married Mary Winslow about 1695 in Albany, NY. Richard

The marriages are on various church register microfilms from Derby, England. No parents names were given on the marriage record of George and Hannah, 28 Aug 1820. Hannah married William Foster 20 May 1851, father George Lee, Greengrocer, witness Emily Lee. Jane (my gt.gt. grandmother) married John Potts 23 Sep 1854, father George Lee, Green Grocer, witness John Harrison. George married Hannah Higgott 29 Nov 1856, father George Lee, Labourer, witnesses John Harrison & Emily Lee. Emily married John Harrison 28 Jun 1857, father George Lee, Labourer, witnesses George & Hannah Lee. John was buried 21 Jun 1859. I have no more information on Eliza, John or Joseph. In the 1841 census George's occupation was Labourer, in 1851 Fruiterer. There are references to more children of George and Hannah Lee but can't verify them as being the same family. George, Hannah, John, Joseph and Eliza arrived in New York 13 Mar 1852, not 1854 as in my previous. The Castle Garden site has Geo. Lee listed as Ben. Your daughter and I might be 4th cousins, once removed.

Contact vital records in Albany. I can't remember if they are that far releasing info up to that date. I would first see if you can find the vital records on the web site. They have all sorts of things there. Pat H
I'm looking for a death date for Sarah Grimes Hale. She was born in England in 1860 and came to Fulton Co. with her parents, George and Sarah Hale. She taught school and then married James Edward Hale (1850-1927) in 1892. He is buried in the Johnstown Cemetery with other members of his family, but she is not on the cemetery list on the Fulton Co. usgenweb site. The 4 Feb 1960 "Oswego Palladium" had the following short piece - "Mrs. Sarah Grimes Hale today achieved a lifelong wish - to become 100. Mrs. Hale, a former school teacher, now lives in a nursing home." So obviously she lived a lot longer than I had thought! Does anyone have a source for a death date some time after 1960? (she isn't in the SSDI) Any help will be much appreciated. Joanne Gaudio

This is my first post to this board. I've learned that my gggrandfather Andreas PFEIFFER "married and settled in Albany, NY." He and his wife to be, Barbara ZAHND b. 1823 came to New York from Havre via the ship Urania in 1847. Can anyone tell me if there were any marriage records kept at that time by the county, or should I be looking for church records there? I have no information whatsoever, except an 1850 Fulton County, Bleeker Township census record of them with their first born, Martin. I'm assuming the marriage occurred between their arrival in June 1847 and early 1850. They lived in NY, and I think Fulton County, for 12 years. Any help, ideas or direction would be wonderful and very much appreciated. Jane

Shutts (1876-1950), daughter of Jacob Shutts and Mary Elizabeth Hale, married Edward J. Reid in 1896 in Fulton Co. Edward was the son of William J. Reid (1839-1920) and Alida ? (b. about 1852). I'm trying to pinpoint Alida's family name. In 1900, mother-in-law Maggie Lingenfelter lived with William and Alida (her age is messed up in the census), and she's buried as Magdalene V. [Van Nest, I think] Lingenfelter (1824-1905) in the Johnstown cemetery in the same plot as son-in-law William Reid and two grand-daughters. Alida isn't listed (she lived with Edward and Katie in 1930, age 76), and I can't find her as a child named Lingenfelter, making me wonder if her mother was married twice. Does any of this ring any bells with anyone researching in Fulton Co.?
Regarding the message about the family of Alida Reid - I forgot to sign my name to it! The message is from Joanne Gaudio.

The first residence given, according to Lewis Decker, is birthplace. Following is the article in it's entirety other than the recruits. LOCAL RECRUITS IN WAR OF 1812 by Lewis G. Decker Fulton Co. Historian The following information comes to us from the Johnstown Historical Society Museum Library. I consider it a rare find and due to its importance, believe it should be copied and shared so that there are other copies. The information found here is hard to come by, pertaining to the War of 1812 and that period in our Nation and our locality. By the year 2012 we will be celebrating this part of our Natiions history, on its 200th Anniversary and local historians across the Nation will be scrambling for information in their localities. Anything we can find now, will be of help to those in the future. The War of 1812 had a great impact on us here in Fulton Co. and our State of New York; armies marched through our county on their way to the Canadian border. The information found in this old ledger lists a number of local residents, recruits during that war. It as well gives us names, their descriptions, occupations, residence and where they were born. This should prove to be of interest not only to historians but to genealogist and those searching their family tree. I wish to thank the Johnstown Historical Society and the President, Lance Lord, for allowing us to copy this rare document and also the Leader Herald for allowing us space in their newspaper to share it with you. The following was donated years ago to the Johnstown Historical Society by a Mr. William M. Grant. It is comprised of a ledger, kept for Captain William Newton's Company of detached troops in the Regiment under command of Lieut Col.
