Hi Gary, Nettie was a first generation (from Germany) born here. Her father Henry Schuler/Shuler and grandfather were born in Germany and came over in the early 1800's. I do not believe that the Schylers are related but they are a very important part of our New York history. Have you tried getting in touch with Mr. Morrison in GLoversville or the Montgomery COunty History Library? THey can point you in the right direction. Good luck. I wish I could be of more assistance. What are some of the other names attached to your family-that might help. I have an extensive family tree which includes 2 biological families and an adopted one. All of these families existed within a 30 mile radius of each other. So maybe there are other names that may lead you to the one you are looking for. It would seem that land sellers perhaps were soliciting Erie Canal boat riders headed west. Such purchase was made by Lemuel Lewis, born 2/15/1801, md to Agnes (Keeler). Hello All, Pearl Walrath was the first wife of Reuben Saltsman. I have 1 daughter for them, Elizabeth who was born on 12 May 1883. She married Benjamin Jacob Nellis on 8 Sep 1912. Elizabeth died on 17 Feb 1983. Reuben's second wife was Emma Vosburgh. She and Reuben had a daughter, Florence who was born on 7 Mar 1906. The information I have is from Nellis/Nelles, Immigrants from the Palatinate, 1710. Pearl is a 5th and 6th cousin 2 times removed. I have a number of Saltsman families in my file. Can someone give me the names of Reuben Saltsman's parents? Richard

Try starting with the Rice Homestead. It's open for tours in the summer, and is run by the historical society. The people are very knowledgeable, and the rooms are packed full of items and info from that era. http://mayfieldny.org/content/History/Home/:field=documents;/content/Documents/File/156.pdf The town historian is Betty Tabor. Look up her (or the historical society's) information & they'll probably be able to be of some decent help researching the Rice family.
Hi Carol, I have a number of Youkers that are in my Nellis file. I am not sure whether they lived in Montgomery County or Fulton County. I have a Nancy Youker who married a Levi A. Snell on 4 Sep 1866. There are also many others. Richard

Your family is from Oliver Sr's first marriage. I have more information if you are interested. Do you have anything on Sally Congdon who about 1818 married a Brott. They had at least two children Mary and Oliver Brott. We are looking for the first name of the Brott who Mary married. Mary Congdon (b. abt 1779; d. bef. 1823 in Jefferson Co NY) was a daughter from Oliver Sr.'s first marriage to Mary Northup.

The information strongly suggets that she is the first wife of Reuben SALTSMAN. Pearl WALRATH Born Jul 1869 Married Reuben SALTSMAN Died 6 Aug 1895 Buried in Ephratah Cemetery The information for her all seems to fit for the following reasons: 1. She is the appropriate age to be married to Reuben SALTSMAN (five years younger). 2. From the Census reports for Reuben SALTSMAN we know that he had two children with his first wife. They were born about 1891 and 1893. Pearl died in 1895, which is two years after the birth of these two children. 3. She is buried in Ephrata Cemetery. This suggests that she lived in Ephratah and that ties her residency to Reuben SALTSMAN who is listed as living in Ephratah in the following Census reports: 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930.
