    1. [NYFULTON] My King Family-Johnstown-Home/Address Information
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: duckeecps Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.fulton/2520/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am wondering if any of you live in Johnstown. My great grandparents, John and Honora King, lived there from 1847 until 1902. (In 1902, widow Honora King left Johnstown to live with her sons in Chicago where she died in 1905) In 1879 the Kings purchased land on Perry Street. The 1880 census shows the address as 2 Perry Street. Directory research (1890 through 1896) indicates that Honora King, widow, is living at 306 S. Perry. Although Honora is not living at 306 S Perry after 1896, she is shown to be the owner of that property in the 1905 Atlas. Question: Did Johnstown have some sort of renumbering of addresses (as Chicago did) wherein 2 Perry Street became 306 S. Perry? For several years before she died, Honora lived at 12 E. Clinton (a few houses from St. Pat's Church) even though she still owned the 306 S. Perry property. Question: Do the old homes at 306 S. Perry and 12 E. Clinton still exist today? If so, is there any way to get pictures? Any help you can give me is very, very much appreciated. Kitty Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [NYFULTON] Hugh Calderwood (1788-1870) of West Galway
    2. I would very much like to know if anyone can confirm that Hugh Calderwood (1788-1870) was a brother of David Calderwood of West Galway (1787-1846). They were both from Ayrshire, Scotland, and probably related. But I've not been able to find out for sure if they were siblings. 1. Re: [NYFULTON] BROWN Family Photograph
    2. There is a Brown family in Johnstown who own the car dealer ship on the arterial. I went to school with Bob Brown, he graduated the year before me, but don't know if the dealership and his Brown are one and the same. It might pay to go on Switchboard and get either a phone number or address and contact the car dealership or even Bob himself. 1. [NYFULTON] BROWN Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as Anna BROWN and Burton BROWN which was taken at the J. L. Abbott Studio in Johnstown, New York. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's or 1890's with both appearing to be in their teens at the time. In addition to their names, someone has also written "Sister and Brother" on the back of the photograph. I'm hoping to locate someone from this BROWN Family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of their family. If you are a member of this family, or if you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. [NYFULTON] Calderwood families of West Galway
    2. Hello, I'm trying to find the origins of the families of David Calderwood (1787-1846) and of Hugh Calderwood (1788-1870), both of whom were born in Ayrshire, Scotland, and both are buried in the West Galway Cemetery. I'm hoping to find out what, if any, relation they may have been to John Calderwood (1797-1886) who also came from Ayrshire, settled near West Galway, and later moved on to Iowa. We're not sure where John was born in Ayrshire, though the parishes of Stewarton and Fenwick are the most likely. He married Jean Bicket at Fenwick in May 1832, and they came to NY shortly thereafter. Any information on David and/or Hugh's parents, place of birth in Scotland, etc., would be VERY welcome. All the best, Ken Cuthbertson Albuquerque, NM ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
