We found her adoption papers of 1904. Birth and natural mother listed as Besse/Bessie MESCHAM. No father stated on the court record. No other records found. Location Wallace, Shoshone County, Idaho. There are several variant families in Utah and Idaho during this particular time. some were in government and there may have been some embarassment due to unwed mother. There may not have been such a thing also.......we believe the nurse from the Providence Hospital in Wallace who lived on the same block as Pearl's adopted parents, Harry and Ella JAMES. Harry worked for the railroad and Ella was from Brooklyn, New York. I find interesting families of the surname of interest in Iowa and in Illinois who may be connected. I would be thrilled to find out if anyone had any knowledge of kin who passed through Idaho from, for example, California, Oregon, Utah or any other possible place. Also any with medical field or patient care skills during the years from 1895 through 1930. We have our mother's DNA profile now in the mtDNA German Project pages with Family Tree. Her ancestry shows Haplogroup U5b........ Blessings, Linda Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
