    3. In most all county court houses that I have been in, there are large index books like deed index books that are named "Index to Civil Court Cases" or something similar. Some of these are filed in the County Clerks Offices, or perhaps the County Law Library, ask around. These are sort of chronologically entered simple indexes to civil cases arranged by "surname", or corporate name, vs: "surname." So if you are looking for things that led up to a divorce for instance they can be found here, even though the Divorce Decree is sealed by the court forever. It takes some digging, especially if you are looking for SMITH vs: SMITH, but in the case you mention, it seems likely easily located. Dick Hillenbrand, www.unyg.com.
