Lee through Robert C. Gibson, the father of Emily Gibson Lee. Newell has a large pension file from the Civil War. Enlistment: Ogdensburg, NY on Sept. 10, 1861 Rank: Private, Co. E 60th Regt. NY Infantry Injury: Sept. 10, 1862, In the line of duty near Fairfax Court House, Va, marching in haste to Washington, DC, received injury to his back caused by stepping into a washout in the road while on a night march.
