I am researching the CLOSE Family for my daughter in law. She descends from ADNA J CLOSE-son of SANFORD and SARAH CLOSE. I have JONATHAN CLOSE-living in the home of his Son SANFORD CLOSE in the 1860 New York Census-Jefferson--Adams In 1870 SANFORD CLOSE is no longer in the Census and his Father-JONATHAN is living with SARAH(Sanfords Wife) and her children. I know JONATHAN (born c. 1784-85 was the Father of SANFORD CLOSE. I am trying to go further back. Some researchers state that JONATHAN CLOSE born 1784-85's-Father was also JONATHAN born c. 1750 and state that his Father was REUBEN born c. 1718 and that REUBEN'S Father was BENJAMIN CLOSE(born May 18-1680 in Greenwich Conn. and BENJAMIN'S Father was THOMAS CLOSE (born c.1643)-and that THOMAS CLOSE'S Father was GOODMAN JOHN CLOSE(born c. 1600.. I have it documented to JONATHAN CLOSE born c. 1784 and Have an 1820 CENSUS-New York-Dutchess-Northeast listed with JONATHAN CLOSE JR and SR.
